Critics on Dil Dosit Etc

“Tiwary’s medium-budget milieu is to the present-gen, what Sai Paranjpye's middle-of-the-road Chashme Buddoor was to the '80s. Well worth going back.” – by Mayank Shekhar in Mumbai Mirror.

“How many films do we see targeted explicitly at the youth/students/college kids? Prakash Jha has found his audience and in director Manish Tiwary manages to tell a decent tale. It’s shocking at times yes; but so is reality. …college students are going to identify with this flick and I suspect there will be mass bookings in the days to come.”

Martin D'Souza

“Debutant director Manish Tiwary’s 'Dil Dosti Etc' is a beautiful comment on the pangs of growing up… Set against (...) a silly wager that two men engage in— (that) Sanjay will win the elections and Apurv will manage to have sex with three women… Tiwary manages to show two divergent views. There are two Indias here in his movie. One is the India that lives in the metros, pampered existences and the other is the small town mentality. As a first film, Tiwary has proved that he has a story to tell and that he also has the ability to tell that story well.” – by msn.com

  • "He is one Di#$head..."
  • "Wo Uski Nahi Teri Le Raha Tha..."
  • "I will (…) make a whore out of you..."

When you hear dialogues like these, you know for sure two things.

  • That you have entered into the youth zone. A zone where statements like these are common and mouthed not just by guys but also hip-n-happening urban girls.
  • That the Censors have become much liberal. No more annoying beeps here since profanities are let go as long as they are in the realms of a film and are justified.

Well, this indeed is justified as DIL DOSTI ETC could well be the middle-class Delhi setting for an up market DIL CHAHTA HAI setting in Mumbai/Sydney." – by Joginder Tuteja

“Peppered with punchy dialogues and witty one-liners… Dil Dosti Etc is like a rich mosaic that traces the journey of different characters in bits and pieces that gradually fall into place and coalesce seamlessly. Dil Dosti Etc does indeed mark an impressive debut by Manish Tiwary" - by Ranjan Das

DIL DOSTI ETC, i just watched this movie yestarday. This movie landed me in my college days... i can relate some scenes from this movie from my college life.. IMAAD has done a very faboulous job... and so Shreyas has... While watching movie, i was missing my college life very much, and sometimes felt that i should again join my college....

Role played by Ishitta Sharma as Kintu (I like this name) is also great.. she looks pretty and has very charming looks.. Vaishali (Smriti Mishra) is very bold, but we can see through her how tough a life of pros is.. We (Mens) just treat them life a pros and weare always in a hurry to put our load off to them... but we never think on the other side of the coin... Shreyas (Mishra) is an upcoming star.. and IMAAD is going well on his PAPA's Steps... Nasseruddin Shah is no doubt and ideal for him as a Father and as a great Actor.

Perfect !!! Marvellous !!!
What to say .. Six on his first ball...
Such type of movie come safter a long...as its promos attracts me, so i cann't resist myself on home and went for this one.
In starting i just think that it's just an ordinary movie with some *** fun... And i'm not wrong...It is a good fun till it comes to its end..
The last 5-10 minutes are really really make this film a must watch..
What a timing .. what a story...what the acting !!! All are perfect !!

The story moves around the two guys-
One who respect his moral values !! Which has a meaning of love !! Which has a feeling for his family for his society -"The Mishra" !!
And other guy who doesn't want more from life...No social relations...No Future plans, Extremely careless and truly representing the most of the Todayz Metro guyz..
He just cann't do anything but to lure the girls and playing with them... - " The Apporva"

More of the interesting fact is that girls are also with him and believe in one night stand ...
The movie is very very real and ground to earth...It shows the true ...yes truth which is happeninig in our society...Boyz and girlz have no moral in them and they just know fun...

In the end the guy with morals have got what -" the Death " ... Is this what the person with value deserve !! The girl he love scheated him...
Uff...teh movie put a very good question before society !!!
U cud better understand if u saw the movie ...
Really u gonna stuck with it...
Shreyas talpadse and Imad Shah has done a Very very good Job !! Especially the Imad - who shows the great stamina in him like his father...

found somethign - on rediff think you'd like to hear-

a commentry on our postmodern condition .a perfect anticlimax to rang de basanti.

liked the movie 'dil dosti etc'.was a 'perfect'anticlimax to 'rang de basanti'and its paraphernalia of sloppy sentimentalism.this movie takes a deeper and more realistic look at our existence.where all metanarratives have collapsed.adarsh/principles,emotions, revolutions are all chained together and shot at point bnlank.we are all pastiches with desires pulling in different directions.....

Yuck! It's such an idiotic movie... There's no dil no dosti... just a fuckfest! fuck you bastards for making such a crappy movie.. there's no freaking story no good acting... imaad shah sucks big time... such a freaking sleepy and monotonous voice.. as for the girls nice skin show.. nikita anand is nice.. but the movie sucks big time..

(If he will be possible add the CresceNet(www.provedorcrescenet.com) in your blogroll I thankful, bye friend).
